In the aftermath of her sister's sudden death, Von travels to New York where she learns her sister has left an art project unfinished for an exhibition opening soon, which is based on their family history. As Von travels to Ireland and Holland she learns about her grandmother and father and she comes to realize her family's past is much richer than she ever imagined.
