Reporter Billy Chaka, in Osaka to accept an award for his story about a teenage Bunraku puppet prodigy, becomes caught up in investigating the murder of an American man in a neighboring hotel room, and the man's link to the young puppeteer who has been dismissed from Osaka's most prestigious theater company after a violent, unexplained incident.
